Becoming a Contributor
If you are interested in writing for the SpecialQuest community blog please email susan.stewart@specialquest.org with your idea. Once your idea has been accepted you will receive your publish date and author login from Susan Stewart.

Author Login
The author login is your username and password that will allow you to add your article directly to the blog as a draft.

Draft
Once an article has been added to the blog, you will save it as a draft. Drafts should be uploaded the Monday before the publish date. All drafts will be reviewed by SpecialQuest staff.

Publish Date
This is the date your posting will become live and available to the general public.

Review & Editorial Process
Author’s are responsible for editing and proofing their own articles. However all articles will be reviewed by SpecialQuest staff to ensure that the content is aligned with the SpecialQuest Birth—Five vision.

Author Photograph
First time authors should email rebecka.anderson@specialquest.org a photograph of themselves. The photo will also appear on the author page along with a biography.

Author Biography
First time authors should edit their blog profile and add a biography not to exceed 100 words. This information will appear to users when your name is clicked. Additionally, the biography will be posted next to your photo on the author page.

Editing Your Profile

  • Click the “profile” link found on the left side of the page.

  • Click update when you have finished editing your profile.

Content Guidelines
This blog is written by individuals who want to share how children (with and without disabilities) have benefitted from being part of inclusive communities. Please write about a personal experience that includes a specific situation which shows how inclusion has benefitted both a child with a disability and his/her typically developing peers. The posting should be 1-3 paragraphs in length. Please do not include biographical information unless it relates directly to your story.

Adding Your Content

  • Click the “post” link found on the left side of the page and then click “add new”.
  • Insert a title into the first line.
  • Insert your article into the text editor. Tip: Write your article in a word processing software program of choice and then copy/paste your article into the blog’s text editor.
  • Do NOT apply style formatting such as bold, italics, and bullets UNTIL you have pasted your article into the blog’s text editor.
  • Click the “Save Draft” button as you work and when done.

Using Media
You may find it helpful to share photos, videos, or audio to help share your story. You can add these items yourself using the text editor (notice icons above the text box). If you require assistance in adding media you may contact rebecka.anderson@specialquest.org

Identify Tags
Once you’ve added your article, use the tag box on the right side of the page to identify tags (keywords) that others might use to search and locate your article. First choose from the tags already provided (click on the word), then add your own if necessary. If you have questions about how tags work, or need help adding your own contact rebecka.anderson@specialquest.org

Identify a Category
Once you’ve added your article, identify the category(s) you feel your article belongs to using the category box on the right side of the page. Do NOT add additional categories as each is navigation item.  If you feel a new category should be added, please contact rebecka.anderson@specialquest.org
